Home Office ‘Police’

Traditionally, The Home Office is known to lead on immigration and passports, drugs policy, crime policy and counter-terrorism. It also  is said to work to ensure visible, responsive and accountable policing in the UK.

But nothing in that description suggests a link with Nazi Germany or even fascism. Well, that’s what Twitter users are accusing the Home Office of after a menacing tweet surroundng the new immigration bill:

There will be no hiding place for illegal immigrants with the new #ImmigrationBill

Appears rather scary almost reminds me of those public information videos of the 1970s and 1980s but with graver implications….

Home Office Twitter followers took to their devices in their droves to condemn the Government department calling it (among other things):

Overall, a massive fail.

Make of it what you will….but besides the message, (the  way it was conveyed) and the backlash, it also begs the question of how effective Government agencies can be in conveying messages to the public using the constraints of twitter?
